Thermal waters of Bains-les-Bains
11 hot springs gush out at a temperature from 25 to 51 degrees according to the emergences : 7 under the tiled floor of the Romaine Bath, 4 more scattered in the Bain de la Promenade (Bain Romain : Artéria, Robinet de fer, Romaine, Tempérée, Grosse source, Souterraine, la Vache; Bain de la Promenade: Féconde, Casquin, Silicia, Promenade). They are plutonian waters, resulting from the distillation of volcanic rocks in the ground magma, under the influence of heat and pressure (Armand Gauthier's theory). They reach the earth's surface by numerous granites faults of the ground before crossing the coat of wills. This origin confers them a regular flow independent from rains, a constant mineralization and temperature, a not inconsiderable of rare gases and relative radioactivity. They are hypo mineral, silicates, treated with copper sulphate and sodic. In 1998, A recent drilling in the Grand Parc Thermale, called "La Forêt" allowed to appreciatly increase the flow of thermal waters.
